Our cornet soloist of the past 12 years is also a bugler at horse racetracks up and down the east coast. For many years, he was the bugler for the Pennsylvania Derby at Parx, the Delaware Handicap at Delaware Park, and has appeared on NBC sports, ESPN, CBS sports and the David Letterman Show. This is Rick’s 14th year as cornet soloist of the Verdi Band. Each year, Rick searches the music libraries of famous American bands to uncover the challenging cornet solos of yesteryear. This year he performs “Lizzie Polka” by J. Hartmann.
